The 2012 IGNITE! Mentorship Program

The 2012 IGNITE! Mentorship Program
Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Vancouver, BC
* Songwriting * Spoken Word * Dance * Directing * Play Writing *

"...all in all, IGNITE! has been one of the best experiences of my life."
-Jennifer Bednard, past Playwriting Mentorship Participant

The Cultch's Youth Program is thrilled to announce the return of The IGNITE! Mentorship Program. Over the last four years, The Cultch has attracted some of the city's top artists and linked them up with youth who want to pursue a career in the arts. The program aims to demystify what it means to be a professional artist and to equip youth with the skills they'll need to succeed. Most importantly, IGNITE!'s unique one-on-one mentorship model allows youth to build meaningful and lasting relationships with leaders in the industries to which they aspire.

The IGNITE! Mentorship Program is 100% FREE for youth aged 13-24, making it the only program of its kind in the city.

We are excited to be welcoming back eleven artists who have been involved in past years, and attribute this high rate of retention to the amazing experiences our mentors have as part of the program. Equally exciting is the new artists that we are welcoming into our fold. These include Kathryn Calder of the New Pornographers, Victoria-based singer-songwriter Aidan Knight, acclaimed stage director Stephen Drover, and local dance instigator Amber Funk Barton.
